Reviews and Comments

HAUNTING REFRAIN is the kind of mystery that grabs you with the first sentence and doesn't let go until the last word. Passages of humor and romance break up the constant tension created by the killer. The characters are totally human and believable in their flaws and imperfections. . . . If you crave a good mystery, HAUNTING REFRAIN will satisfy your habit. Enjoy!

Quirky, engaging characters. . . . Both Venice and Kate are charmers!

Vidler explores the psychic world without resorting to the "all will be revealed" solution and bypasses the old difficulty of psychic mysteries: if you're psychic, why can't you see the killer. A page-turner.

An interesting premise, with easy-to-read prose and slightly offbeat characters, makes this first novel a good choice for readers who like a bit of the paranormal in their mysteries.

Haunting Refrain is a suspenseful tale that kept me absorbed until the end. Ellis Vidler has created characters I was delighted to spend time with-believable and down-right likable.

. . . all I can say is WOW. It is fantastic. It hooked me from the first page.

Vidler very fairly plants the clues to the killer's identity, and eventually the reader knows who the killer is and watches while Kate puts the evidence together. The plot moves along at a fast clip, and there are some excellent twists and turns. I read this one at a gallop, very caught up in the story and the characters. This is an excellent first novel that doesn't read like one. All in all, a very polished performance, and highly recommended.

HAUNTING REFRAIN is an exciting amateur sleuth tale starring a reluctant psychic who sees her gift as a curse that frightens her. . . . Ellis Vidler is a gifted storyteller who deserves a large following for her wonderful romantic mysteries like this one.
